Bananas in pajamas amigurumi – Free pattern

Hello there, don’t you worry I’m not getting ahead of myself making toys from ABC shows for the baby already. This one’s a gift for a cute little girl who loves bananas in pajamas. For the first time, I’ve used knitting in amigurumi and I’m pretty pleased with myself with the way it has turned out. The pattern may not be ideally how a knit pattern is written, please bear with me and let me know if there are ways to improve it while I’m still teaching myself to knit.

DSC02027 (2)

Starting with the brown colored yarn,

Round 1: Magic circle, 8 sc
Round 2: [sc in the next 2 sc, dec ] * 2 times. (6)
Changing to yellow colored yarn,
Round 3: sc around. (6)
Round 4: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 5: sc in each sc around.
:
Round 7:
Round 8: 2sc in the first sc, sc in the next 5sc. Repeat. (14)
Round 9: sc in each sc around. (14)
Round 10: 2sc in the first sc, sc in the next 6sc. Repeat. (16)
Round 11: sc in each sc around. (16)
Round 12: sc in each sc around. (16)

The pajamas are knitted as I’m unsure how to make neat vertical striped ones in crochet

Note: Each row is two knit rows in the same colour making a garter stitch
Note: In order to seamlessly change colors, I’ve followed the method clearly explained in the video.
Row 1. Cast on 15 stitches in blue, knit 15 stitches using blue
Row 2-6. Knit 5 rows of garter stitch alternating between white and blue yarn
In the last row, Cast off 9 stitches, knit remaining 6 stitches in white
Row 7. Knit 6, cast on 9 stitches in blue, knit 15 stiches
Row 8-18. Knit 10 rows of garter stitch alternating between white and blue yarn In the last row, Cast off 9 stitches, knit remaining 6 stitches in white
Row 19. Knit 6, cast on 9 stitches in blue, knit 15 stiches
Row 20-25. Knit 5 rows of garter stitch alternating between white and blue yarn
In the last row, Cast off all the stitches in white and finish.

Pajama shirt:

Note: Each row is two knit rows in the same colour making a garter stitch
Row 1. Cast on 12 stitches in blue, knit 15 stitches using blue
Row 2-6. Knit 5 rows of garter stitch alternating between white and blue yarn
In the last row, Knit 8, cast off 3 stitches, knit remaining 1 stitch in white
Row 7. Knit 1, cast on 3 stitches in blue, knit 8 stitches, knit 12
Row 8-20. Knit 12 rows of garter stitch alternating between white and blue yarn In the last row, Knit 8, cast off 3 stitches, knit remaining 1 stitch in white
Row 21. Knit 1, cast on 3 stitches in blue, knit 8 stitches, knit 12
Row 22-27. Knit 5 rows of garter stitch alternating between white and blue yarn
In the last row, Cast off all the stitches in white and finish.

Sleeves:
6 rows of alternating white and blue in garter stitch with 10 stitches. Attach the sleeves to the shirt, hope the picture gives you a better idea as to how its done. I’ve used a piece of stretchy white fabric and sewed it to make crisp collar thereby hiding the crooked edges.

For the effect of tiles, I’ve used crocodile stitch. Just follow this video, including the stitch count and you should be able to achieve it. Instead of 5 dc at each side of the scallop I’ve used only four since it’s a tiny little project.

Finish and leave a long tail to sew the body to the head

Rabbit’s eyes:

I’m not sure if I did full justice to her eyes, I wanted some naive looking ones and my husband says it makes her look like an owl.
Using black coloured yarn,
Round 1: Magic Circle, 6sc into the circle & then pull it close. (6)
Round 2: 2 sl st in each sc around. (12)
Adding the white coloured yarn,
Make 8 sc in a semi circle.

Rabbit’s ears:

Using pink coloured yarn, the ears are worked in single crochet through and I hope it makes sense to just put down the number of stitches in each row if it is 1sc in each sc
Row 1: Chain 7 (6)
Row 2: (6)
Row 3: (6)
Row 4: 2sc(inc),1sc in each sc(4), 2sc(inc). (8)

Finish, stuff and sew all the parts to its body.

Rabbit’s skirt:

Using pink colored yarn, join in at the region where the top of the dress meets the undergarments of the bunny.
Round 1: sl st around. (40)
Round 2: [sc in the next 4 sl st, 2sc in the next sl st]* 8 times (48).
Round 3: [sc in the next 5sc, 2sc in the next] * 8 times. (56).
Round 4: [sc in the next 6sc, 2sc in the next] * 8 times. (64).
Round 5: [sc in the next 7sc, 2sc in the next] * 8 times. (72).

For the collar I have joined in the pink colored yarn in a similar manner at the neck, and worked in rounds till it looked like one.

Knit newborn sweater

Hello everybody!

How are you all doing? Lets make this post an official announcement, a major life update that I’m soon going to be a mum. I’m expecting my first child this July and the only thing that has got me excited about my due date falling during

the Victorian winter is that I can make cute woolen stuff for the baby. So here’s one of the many things I’ve made, its from a free pattern I found on Ravelry called the Baby sophisticate. You very well know that I’m no experienced knitter and if I could make something by just following the pattern I’m sure you can too. 🙂

Crochet disney princess dress – Snow white

Mirror mirror on the wall, show me the prettiest snow white dress of all! Ta-da!

Snow_white_crochet_dress

Crochet Hook : 2.5mm
Yarn: 4ply acrylic yarn

We’ll start with making the skirt part of snow white’s dress. So start crocheting with the yellow colored yarn.
Round 1: Chain 17, sl st to the beginning chain.
Round 2: sc in each chain around. (16)
Round 3: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (24)
Round 4: [sc in the next 2sc, 3sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (40)
Round 5: [sc in the next 4sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (48)
Round 6: [sc in the next 5sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (56)
Round 7: [sc in the next 6sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (64)
Round 8: [sc in the next 7sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (72)
Round 9: [sc in the next 8sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (80)
Round 10: sc around. (80)
:
Round 12: sc around. (80)

Now for snow white’s top, using a dark blue colored yarn start by sc into the top of the skirt

Dress_snow_white
Round 1: 18 sc. (18) (I understand there’s only going to be 17 chains, but somehow manage to squeeze in another single crochet)
Round 2: sc around. (18)
Round 3: sc around. (18)
Round 4: [sc in the next 2sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (24)
Round 5: sc around. (24)
Round 6: sc around. (24)

DSC01983
Round 7: [sc in the next 3sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 2 times, chain 5, [sc in the next 3sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 2 times (This makes the arm hole space for snow white’s dress)
Round 8: [sc in the next 3sc, dec in the next sc] * 6 times (24)
Round 9: [sc in the next 2sc, dec in the next sc] * 6 times (18)

Now for those puffy arms, I’ve used a different shade of blue, you may use the same one and make two of those

Round 1: Chain 7, sl st into the last chain to form a circle. sc into each of the chains. (6)
Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 3: [sc in each sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)
Round 4: sc around. (18)
Round 5: sc around. (18)
Round 6: [sc in each sc, dec in the next] * 6 times. (12)
Round 7: dec 6 times. (6)

For the white collar bit of snow white’s dress attach the yarn inside out like we did attached the top to the skirt.

Step 1: 12sc in the area where you want you collar to be
Step 2: Chain 2, turn and 1dc in each of the sc across. Finish and weave in the ends.

I feel like I could have lengthened the skirt a bit, but it works perfectly well to be used as a keychain, finger puppet’s clothes and what not.

Amigurumi elephant – Crochet free pattern

Hello my lil jumbo elephant!

Processed with VSCOcam with m3 preset

It’s been so long since I blogged about my crochet/stitching ventures trust me I’ve been going through a lot of changes in life although crafting kept me company I couldn’t find time to blog about it. (Instead of excusing myself every time I must just admit I’m too lazy to properly function and keep up to my goals, hmmmn!)

I’ve always wanted to make elephants since I started making cute animals although I still am not satisfied this is the one which is close to near perfection. I’m sure there will be an improvised elephant pattern coming up soon, till then please bear with this my lovely crocheters.

Crochet hook : 2.5mm

Starting with the elephants trunk and then proceeding to it’s head,

Round 1: Magic circle, 6sc in it. (6)
Round 2: [1sc in each sc] * 6 times (6)
:
Round 7: [1sc in each sc] * 6 times (6)
Round 8: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 9: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)
Round 10: sc in the next 6 sc, [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (24)
Round 11: slip stitch in the next 6 sc, [sc in the next 2 sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (24 sc + 6 slip stitches)
Round 12: sc in the next 6 slip stitch, sc in each sc around. (30)
Round 13: [sc in the next 3sc, dec in the next 2sc] * 6 times. (24)
Round 14: sc in each sc around. (24)

You will now have the elephants head and trunk.

Elephant’s body is worked from the tail part to it’s neck

Round 1: Magic Circle, 6sc into the circle & then pull it close. (6)
Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 3: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)
Round 4: [sc in the next 2sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (24)
Round 5: [sc in the next 3sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (30)
Round 6: [sc in the next 4sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (36)
Round 7: [sc in the next 5sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (42)
Round 8: sc around. (42)
:
Round 12: sc around. (42)
Round 13: [sc in the next 5sc, dec in the next 2sc] * 6 times. (36)
Round 14: [sc in the next 4sc, dec in the next 2sc] * 6 times. (30)
Round 15: [sc in the next 3sc, dec in the next 2sc] * 6 times. (24)

Make four of these elephants legs,

Round 1: Magic Circle, 6sc into the circle & then pull it close. (6)
Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 3: sc around. (Working in back loops only). (12)
Round 4: sc around. (12)
:
Round 8: sc around. (12)

Elephant amigurumi

Join all of the parts and voila you now have a tiny little elephant for yourself, or not yet you still have to make those ears. I didn’t like the way mine turned out so I’m not putting it down here. If any of you have a nice pattern for it feel free to write it down in the comments so it may be useful for everyone else who wants to crochet it.
Edits:
Well may be I’ll just put down the pattern for the ears, don’t blame me if they don’t look very pretty.

Round 5: sc around (24)
:
Round 7: sc around (24)
I only sewed in the ends of the ears to the elephants body, so I was able to flap the ears from front to back. It looked somehow cinched, but pretty from the angle I took the picture from.
May the little lord ganesha’s blessings be with you all. Have a good day! 🙂

Owl Amigurumi keychain – free pattern

Hoot! hoot!

There are countless patterns for cute owls on the internet and I knew I have to have my own. And any resemblance to other owls is purely coincidental and I cant be held responsible. :p

image
The levitating owl

Owl body:

Round 1: Magic circle, sc 6 times. Without joining start the next round and the following.
Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 3: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)
Round 4: [sc in the next 2sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (24)
Round 5: sc around. (24)
:
Round 12: sc around. (24)
Stuff the owl, and hold it like a sack and sew the ends. If you’ve used yellow by now the owl may look like a weird minion.

Owl’s wings:

Round 1: Magic circle, dc 12 times into the magic circle. (12)
Round 2: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)

Make two of these, slightly tug at opposite side of each wing and make it appear elongated. Now sew the top part of the wing onto the body.

Eyes:

Using white coloured yarn,
Round 1: Magic circle, sc 6 times. Without joining start the next round and the following.
Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)

Make two of these and sew it to the body. Make french knots for eyeballs. Embroider the beak using satin stitch.

While sewing the head, I’ve added a loop for the key ring so my darling niece could use it as keychain.
