Knit newborn sweater

Hello everybody!

How are you all doing? Lets make this post an official announcement, a major life update that I’m soon going to be a mum. I’m expecting my first child this July and the only thing that has got me excited about my due date falling during

the Victorian winter is that I can make cute woolen stuff for the baby. So here’s one of the many things I’ve made, its from a free pattern I found on Ravelry called the Baby sophisticate. You very well know that I’m no experienced knitter and if I could make something by just following the pattern I’m sure you can too. 🙂

Crochet disney princess dress – Snow white

Mirror mirror on the wall, show me the prettiest snow white dress of all! Ta-da!

Snow_white_crochet_dress

Crochet Hook : 2.5mm
Yarn: 4ply acrylic yarn

We’ll start with making the skirt part of snow white’s dress. So start crocheting with the yellow colored yarn.
Round 1: Chain 17, sl st to the beginning chain.
Round 2: sc in each chain around. (16)
Round 3: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (24)
Round 4: [sc in the next 2sc, 3sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (40)
Round 5: [sc in the next 4sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (48)
Round 6: [sc in the next 5sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (56)
Round 7: [sc in the next 6sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (64)
Round 8: [sc in the next 7sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (72)
Round 9: [sc in the next 8sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 8 times. (80)
Round 10: sc around. (80)
:
Round 12: sc around. (80)

Now for snow white’s top, using a dark blue colored yarn start by sc into the top of the skirt

Dress_snow_white
Round 1: 18 sc. (18) (I understand there’s only going to be 17 chains, but somehow manage to squeeze in another single crochet)
Round 2: sc around. (18)
Round 3: sc around. (18)
Round 4: [sc in the next 2sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (24)
Round 5: sc around. (24)
Round 6: sc around. (24)

DSC01983
Round 7: [sc in the next 3sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 2 times, chain 5, [sc in the next 3sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 2 times (This makes the arm hole space for snow white’s dress)
Round 8: [sc in the next 3sc, dec in the next sc] * 6 times (24)
Round 9: [sc in the next 2sc, dec in the next sc] * 6 times (18)

Now for those puffy arms, I’ve used a different shade of blue, you may use the same one and make two of those

Round 1: Chain 7, sl st into the last chain to form a circle. sc into each of the chains. (6)
Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 3: [sc in each sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)
Round 4: sc around. (18)
Round 5: sc around. (18)
Round 6: [sc in each sc, dec in the next] * 6 times. (12)
Round 7: dec 6 times. (6)

For the white collar bit of snow white’s dress attach the yarn inside out like we did attached the top to the skirt.

Step 1: 12sc in the area where you want you collar to be
Step 2: Chain 2, turn and 1dc in each of the sc across. Finish and weave in the ends.

I feel like I could have lengthened the skirt a bit, but it works perfectly well to be used as a keychain, finger puppet’s clothes and what not.

Amigurumi elephant – Crochet free pattern

Hello my lil jumbo elephant!

Processed with VSCOcam with m3 preset

It’s been so long since I blogged about my crochet/stitching ventures trust me I’ve been going through a lot of changes in life although crafting kept me company I couldn’t find time to blog about it. (Instead of excusing myself every time I must just admit I’m too lazy to properly function and keep up to my goals, hmmmn!)

I’ve always wanted to make elephants since I started making cute animals although I still am not satisfied this is the one which is close to near perfection. I’m sure there will be an improvised elephant pattern coming up soon, till then please bear with this my lovely crocheters.

Starting with the elephants trunk and then proceeding to it’s head,

Round 1: Magic circle, 6sc in it. (6)

Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 3: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)
Round 4: [sc in the next 2sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (24)
Round 5: [sc in the next 3sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (30)
Round 6: [sc in the next 4sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (36)

Elephant amigurumi

Join all of the parts and voila you now have a tiny little elephant for yourself, or not yet you still have to make those ears. I didn’t like the way mine turned out so I’m not putting it down here. If any of you have a nice pattern for it feel free to write it down in the comments so it may be useful for everyone else who wants to crochet it.
Edits:
Well may be I’ll just put down the pattern for the ears, don’t blame me if they don’t look very pretty.

Round 1: Magic Circle, 6sc into the circle & then pull it close. (6)
Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)
Round 3: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)
Round 4: [sc in the next 2sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (24)
Round 5: sc around (24)
:
Round 7: sc around (24)
I only sewed in the ends of the ears to the elephants body, so I was able to flap the ears from front to back. It looked somehow cinched, but pretty from the angle I took the picture from.
May the little lord ganesha’s blessings be with you all. Have a good day! 🙂

Owl Amigurumi keychain – free pattern

Hoot! hoot!

There are countless patterns for cute owls on the internet and I knew I have to have my own. And any resemblance to other owls is purely coincidental and I cant be held responsible. :p

Round 5: sc around. (24)

Owl’s wings:

Round 1: Magic circle, dc 12 times into the magic circle. (12)
Round 2: [sc in the sc, 2sc in the next sc] * 6 times. (18)

Make two of these, slightly tug at opposite side of each wing and make it appear elongated. Now sew the top part of the wing onto the body.

Eyes:

Using white coloured yarn,
Round 1: Magic circle, sc 6 times. Without joining start the next round and the following.
Round 2: 2sc in each sc around. (12)

Make two of these and sew it to the body. Make french knots for eyeballs. Embroider the beak using satin stitch.

While sewing the head, I’ve added a loop for the key ring so my darling niece could use it as keychain.

Crochet/macrame chest – using paracord

Hello here! It’s been a long time, a good long vacation has done me good and I’m excited about this blog post. I’ve learnt a bit of macrame as you can see from this cute little chest.

Fotor_143502971436732

Materials needed:

  • Paracord dark blue, light blue, white
  • Crochet hook : 6.5mm

I’m sure you can make the basket by yourself if you know how to crochet. The tricky part is its lid and some instructions might do you good.

Cut the paracord to different lengths:

  • a ) 1 dark blue paracord : 30 cms
  • b) 6 dark blue paracords : 60 cms each
  • c) 4 dark blue paracords : 250 cms each
  • d) 6 light blue paracords : 50 cms each
  • e) 6 white cord : 40 cms each

Use the 1 dark blue cord (30 cms)[a] as the base thread. Make a larks head knot using 1 of the 6 dark blue cord (60 cms)[b] to the base thread. Then make a larks head knot(twice) using 1 of the 4 dark blue cord (250 cms)[c] onto the left hand side tail of the previous cord. Repeat the same for the remaining 3 dark blue cord as shown in the images below.

Now make similar knots on these horizontal threads using the light blue and white paracords.

Crochet/ Macrame

Similarly make other petals, and trim and seal the excess using fire or super glue. It gets quite tricky with this part. You may notice parallel lines in between the petals, if you wish you may fill them or leave it as such. I’ve started to crochet around the last line working around the flower using a white paracord.IMG_20150506_132705

Round 1: 7sc, ch1 around the flower
Round 2: Using the blue cord, sc around the previous round.
