Crochet in less than an hour purse

DSC02029

Hello! This is one quick crochet project, and if you have a sewing machine and if you know how to use it you’ve got yourself a purse in less than an hour. Poor me, I don’t have a sewing machine and I had to sew it all by hand(That explains the not so even edges). And it still was a quick enough project and I love how well it has turned out. This is the pattern for the flower motif that I’ve used and I hope I’m not infringing anybody’s rights to the pattern.

flower-motif1

I made three of these and stitched it to the purse. I mostly free handed the measurements of the purse and cut out the length of fabric which housed all three in a horizontal line across. I’ve used a stretchy cottony fabric(up cycled T-shirt) hence to make it sturdier used a backing and a lining fabric. Hope you have fun making this as much as I did.

For the effect of tiles, I’ve used crocodile stitch. Just follow this video, including the stitch count and you should be able to achieve it. Instead of 5 dc at each side of the scallop I’ve used only four since it’s a tiny little project.

Finish and leave a long tail to sew the body to the head

Rabbit’s eyes:

I’m not sure if I did full justice to her eyes, I wanted some naive looking ones and my husband says it makes her look like an owl.
Using black coloured yarn,
Round 1: Magic Circle, 6sc into the circle & then pull it close. (6)
Round 2: 2 sl st in each sc around. (12)
Adding the white coloured yarn,
Make 8 sc in a semi circle.

Rabbit’s ears:

Using pink coloured yarn, the ears are worked in single crochet through and I hope it makes sense to just put down the number of stitches in each row if it is 1sc in each sc
Row 1: Chain 7 (6)
Row 2: (6)
Row 3: (6)
Row 4: 2sc(inc),1sc in each sc(4), 2sc(inc). (8)

Finish, stuff and sew all the parts to its body.

Rabbit’s skirt:

Using pink colored yarn, join in at the region where the top of the dress meets the undergarments of the bunny.

Easy quick lotus crochet

Hello lotus potus!

Hey hey, I’m in no way referring to the US presidential guys just a quick post on an easy to do lotus crochet. I’ve always fancied lotus, not just because the Indian national flower is lotus but that it has always meant some calm and peace to me. You can always find it in most Vishnu temples beautifully adorning the lord. Also, most Raja Ravi Varma‘s paintings where the hindu goddesses are seated on them or holding them(but why?). Hmmmn, that ticks the google search alarm in my head, I really need to know more about Lotus and its significance in India.

I once made a lotus out of pistachio shells and had been using it for my prayers, now that it has become a bit dusty and needed a change I decided I’d crochet one myself. I wanted something big enough, like a lotus bed so that my kutti kannan(ladoo gopal) can lounge on it.Easy_quick_crochet_lotus
